Digital Landscapes

How rendering light digitally changed the way I understand physical space.

When I first started generating landscapes in software, I thought I was escaping the constraints of physical reality. I was wrong — I was actually learning to see it more clearly.

The mathematics of light, the way it bends around objects and bleeds into shadows — these things do not lie. A renderer forces you to understand what you are describing. Vague intuitions about how a sunset looks become explicit parameters.

Over time, moving between digital and physical work became less about switching modes and more about carrying the same set of questions between them.
